After surviving a damp night in Caldwell in the tent trailer with thunder and lightening throughout we awoke to sun and toasted up some bagels for breakfast. After packing up we said goodbye to the quaint Country Corners Campsite and hit the road by ten. After hitting the local Target for some essentials (like a broom) we headed to Shoshone Falls for a breathtaking view of the "Niagara Falls of the West" Amazing! When walking through the parking lot it felt like it was raining from the mist coming off the waterfall. We walked out to the observation deck and put our photo electronics (phones) in peril by dangling them over the edge for some pictures.

Ksenia enjoying the falls.

Chelsea the photographer snapping a photo.
After we had sufficient photos taken we bought a few souvenirs at the gift shop and the kids squished some pennies for keepsakes. Then it was off to Utah.

While on the road to Utah we saw some amazing scenery with snow covered mountain peaks, rolling hills and billowing prairies.

One of the best sites we've seen is gas under $3.50. You can't really see the sign but it has been an encouraging sight. I'm sure it won't be as encouraging out east.
We arrived at our campground by 5:30 which gave us enough time to setup camp and make some dinner.

Mindy was cooking tonight so that meant some sort of gourmet meal. Tonight it was Artichoke chicken with roasted potatoes.

Mom cooking dinner, yum.

Kaleb anxiously awaits.

So does Ksenia. I think Chelsea just wants food.

Dinner was mostly gone before I got a picture. It was that good!!!

Dad gives it the thumbs up.
After a great meal it was time to check out the Great Salt Lake at sunset. Kaleb got to drive for the first time on the trip. He still hasn't pulled the trailer yet but got his maiden voyage driving for the first time out of the state of Oregon. To make sure we didn't get lost we programed in Antelope Island State Park into the GPS and headed out. After driving for about 20 minutes we were told to turn onto a road that had a closed gate across it. Seeing that we couldn't turn right we went straight and eventually found the state marina. This turned out to be a happy mistake as it is a great place to dip your feet in the lake and watch a sunset. Beautiful!!!

Mom and son on the rocks watching the sunset.

Pretty...

Antelope island. Where we were supposed to be. The marina entrance fee was $7 cheaper than the park. What a bargain$$$

Chelsea strikes a pose and Kaleb touches the lake.

Dad getting his feet wet...literally.

Mom dips the hand in.

Ksenia dips in a toe.

After the beautiful sunset we returned to camp to get some much needed sleep. We are looking forward to seeing Bryce Canyon tomorrow. It is my favorite canyon in the southwest.
Brings back so-o-o-o-o-o many memories!!!!!!
