breakfast as quickly as possible to take in all the sites. The
question was take the metro or take the van??? After doing
considerable research and a lot of math it turned out to be quicker,
easier, and cheaper for the five of us to take the van. After
programming in the parking garage's address we set off towards our
destination. As soon as we parked I headed out to get in line for
tickets to see the Bureau of Engraving and Printing Tour while Mindy
and the kids made sandwiches for lunch. It was a long line but we got
an early tour and saw millions of dollars being made.

Next it was off
to the Holocaust Museum. It is always a moving experience and they do
such a great job with the exhibits. We watched a video on Hitler's
rise to power, and saw a temporary exhibit on Nazi propaganda, by the
time we were one floor into the permanent exhibit it was already
afternoon and no eating was allowed inside the museum. Unfortunately
we had to rush a bit to get through before we all were starving. Even
with that it was a powerful and moving experience.

After the museum we
had some lunch and went to the Washington Monument for tickets and we
were lucky enough to score tickets for a 3:00 pm tour. While waiting
for our tour time we took in the sites of the WWII memorial. It was
great to walk around and see the bronze reliefs of the different
events in the war, see the pillars representing each state, view the
stars that represent those who died all while having picturesque views
of the Washington and Lincoln Memorial.

Had to take a picture in honor of my nephew who is currently serving in the Navy.

OREGON!

Gee I'm strong!!!
After getting pictures and
viewing the Pacific Side of the memorial we returned to the Washington
Monument for our appointment. The size of the memorial doesn't
completely hit you until you actually approach the monument.

Except for Kaleb, we were all less than three bricks tall. We were able to go up the
elevator to the top of the monument and look out of the windows. Crazy
cool view of everything.

After returning to earth we made our way down to the Vietnam and Korean monuments and the Lincoln Memorial. Our last stop was the Jefferson Memorial.

Finally,it was time to take the weary family home for the night, so
back to camp. We are anticipating another big day of touring
tomorrow.

We have visited all but two. I want to go to the Holocaust and the WWII Memorials. You saw some awesome sites. Lots of walking but worth it.
