Well one of the stops we were really looking forward to was 4th of July in Williamsburg. I still remember seeing it when I was 12 years old. We checked into our cute little campground called Anvil here in Williamsburg under mostly sunny skies but that changed quickly. By the time camp was setup we could hear thunder and soon we were seeing lightening. We found a dollar store and got ponchos to keep us dry and headed out to Williamsburg. When we got there we found the path to the fireworks display and started walking in a heavy downpour with lightening and thunder all around us. We started getting nervous when we saw large numbers of people streaming in the opposite direction. When we asked someone if it was cancelled they said they didn't know so we figured they just weren't Oregonians and were actually bothered by the rain. By the time we got halfway there, people began telling us it was cancelled. We were disappointed but pushed on to at least get a glimpse of Williamsburg before turning back. When we arrived in the town we asked to see if they had cancelled or postponed and they definitely cancelled. We returned to our car disappointed but we were treated to a spectacular lightening show throughout the night. There were many bursts of lightening that truly took our breath away. We are looking forward to seeing the town tomorrow and partaking in many of the cool activities they offer.

:-( At least you look awesome in your new rain ponchos. What a disappointment. The storms in the south ARE spectacular but not what you were there for. Glad you are making the best of it. Chock up another crazy memory.
